In the Book: An epilogue written by Chancellor Paige reveals the final twist. Brenda and Jorge had been planted by WICKED after Paige realized that the attempt to find a cure wouldn't succeed. Brenda and Jorge's mission was to lead the remaining immunes to a safe and secure place — a place away from the cranks.
Thomas and Teresa share several kisses during the story. Brenda kisses Thomas' cheek. She pulls his head toward her to try and kiss his lips, but he pulls away.
Unfortunately he ends up with Brenda due to Teresa's fate :'(. Brenda was put into the scorch by WICKED to be a replacement for Teresa and it felt like she did just that from the moment she met Thomas and kissed him on the cheek. Even though Teresa betrayed Thomas, she did it so that WICKED wouldn't kill him.
Teresa falls to her death when the WCKD Tower collapses. Sometime later, at the Safe Haven, Thomas goes the Memorial Rock and carves Teresa's name on it.
At the end of the film, it's revealed Thomas did escape with a vial of the cure. By the time The Death Cure ends, it seems the majority of humanity has descended into the chaotic world we've seen outside the city walls throughout the entire film franchise.
They start herding the Immune kids through the Flat Trans but before Thomas and his friends can escape, Janson and the security guards corner them. They start a fight which ends when Thomas strangles Janson to death. However, Teresa also dies from falling debris in an effort to save Thomas's life.
She was obsessed with the prospect of helping and healing and finding a Cure. That is not bad. She only failed to see that WICKED is wicked, and that torturing people is the wrong way.
Thomas's blood wasn't a cure before he entered the Scorch. The enzyme can the virus slower, but after Thomas was in the Scorch, the enzyme in his blood now has the ability to really CURE the virus.
Actually, as sad as it is that Teresa dies, she didn't die in vain. She dies to save her best friend. Read that part of the book more closely and you will see that Thomas was devastated by Teresa's death. He still loves Teresa because she was his best friend before and after the maze.
She is the deuteragonist and anti-hero of the Maze Runner series, and was named after Mother Teresa. However, she became more of a villain in the climax of the second film when she joins WCKD. But in the third film, she rejoins Thomas and his friends and becomes the deuteragonist once again.
